The characteristics of shape memory alloy are as follows
(1) Magnetic shape memory alloy has bidirectional strain effect, which is suitable for the development of new actuators.
(2) The price of material is lower than that of magnetostrictive material. Because the material contains a large number of expensive metals (TB), the price of magnetostrictive shape memory alloy is about one tenth of the expensive.
(3) It has many important applications. As an intelligent material, magnetic memory alloy is the material foundation of national defense and high technology in the future. Its high strain characteristics and high response frequency are expected to be used in sensor, surface intelligent structure, automatic control, aircraft wing control system and ultra power ultrasonic transducer technology.
(4) The research value of theory, new material and new effect is very high. For example, magnetic field plays an important role in martensitic transformation of shape memory alloys. In principle, magnetostrictive shape memory effect is completely different from the commonly used magnetostrictive effect. The existing shape memory alloys and piezoelectric materials are controlled by temperature, so many new materials and applications can be developed.
