Because of its unique shape memory function, it has the advantages of super elasticity, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, so it has been widely used in many fields.
(1) Mechanical Engineering
The application of Ni Ti shape memory alloy in the mechanical industry was initially in the pipe joints and fasteners. Specifically, in the connection of mechanical parts, pipelines, and the interface of aircraft refueling, nitinol shape memory alloy is used to process the casing with the outer diameter 3% larger than the inner diameter, and the casing is expanded by about 8% at a certain temperature. In assembly, the casing is taken out of liquid nitrogen, and the pipe is inserted from both ends. If the temperature rises to normal temperature, the electric heating can be used to change the temperature. The nitinol shape memory alloy at the air refueling interface is deformed, and the casing processed by nitinol shape memory alloy shrinks to form a tight seal, so as to achieve tight oil leakage, and the effect is much higher than the traditional welding. Therefore, Ni Ti shape memory alloy is especially suitable for aerospace, ship, oil pipeline and other fields. In the position of inconvenient construction, nitinol shape memory alloy can be used to make pins, which can be installed into the holes for heating. Therefore, the use of nitinol shape memory alloy temperature driven multi-function, the production of robots, manipulators and so on.
(2) Construction industry
As mentioned above, nitinol shape memory alloy has various characteristics. Combined with the structure of nitinol shape memory alloy, it can enhance the damping of the system and reduce the dynamic response of the structure, so as to make various forms of damping energy dissipation devices. The shape memory alloy can also be used to design the vibration isolator. The deformation of shape memory alloy can increase the energy consumption of deformation displacement and prevent the transmission of seismic energy to the upper structure, so as to protect the upper structure and really enhance the seismic performance of the structure.
(3) Aerospace Industry
In the aircraft hydraulic system, nearly 800 nitinol shape memory alloy joints are needed for each aircraft. Since the 1970s, most U.S. Navy aircraft have used this type of pipe joint, and there is no record of failure. In addition, nitinol shape memory alloy can also be used in the antenna of spacecraft, mechanical and electrical components.
(4) Automobile industry
Nitinol shape memory alloy is mainly used in the clutch of engine heat release fan, exhaust nozzle, radiator of diesel engine, etc.
(5) Medical field
Ni Ti shape memory alloy has high mechanical properties and biocompatibility, which makes it widely used in medical field. For example, dental correction, surgical plastic surgery, cardiovascular minimally invasive, etc.; thrombus filter is actually a new product of nitinol shape memory alloy; after the straightened filter is implanted into the vein, it will gradually form a network over time, preventing more than 90% of clots from flowing to the heart, lungs and other organs. In addition, the application of nitinol shape memory alloy in medical clinical trial includes surgical suture, artificial joint, artificial heart, etc.
